Local and free-range is the best way to go. Try to get everything you consume from a few hundred kms radius. Export's footprint will depend on export distance, of course.
If you can't find local organic farm milk and buy from a different country, you ultimately signal to your home economy that you prefer organic, so it is hard to say if you should go with local factory farmed, or NZ pasture- farms.
