It is hard to explain the difference between genuine interest and how people lean in to investigate your "otherness". While you are perceived as "one of us", I am perceived as "other".
I love my heritage. I simply ask, along with millions of BIPOC not to be approached as "different, the "others". Bc that is how we feel.
