I have lived in Bangkok for 2 yeats and one in Bali. White guys are discriminated, for sure. A lot of the SEAn people look at them with awe and celebrate them when they speak broken thai. Colonialism is so deeply ingrained in most of society that you must have a demigod status there. Colonial racism comes from inside the house.

I reckon my Dad moved to Thailand for validation too. You know, this handsome old white guy, being treated as royalty. Must be so hard.
