Hi James,

Yes, exactly! Poland and Hungary go hand in hand, defying our common humanitarian values. The two countries have a heartwrenching history of friendship through past wars. It used to be a beautiful example of camaraderie, which now morphed into them, along with the other Visegrad countries becoming far-right, increasingly nationalist and oppressive.

You must have seen the protests in Poland this year following the abortion ban. First, on SoME, everyone celebrated when the gov postponed the ratification of the anti-abortion laws. Then, as media attention deflected and people celebrated "the victory of the protests", they went ahead and did whatever they were going to do anyway.

It's an ingenious tactic that was used when the Standing Rock protests were going on too. They gave a crumble to the First Nations. There was a celebration, the media declared victory, and they went ahead with the pipeline plans as the international resistance and uproar subsided.

It's pretty alarming. Inch by inch LGBTQ+, women's and Indigenous right are being taken away by corporations and governments
