I agree 100%! I also thrive in an international environment and struggled for the most part of a decade to put my finger on what was bothering me about some groups of foreigners in (mainly) South-East Asia. (Singapore would be "too expensive" for them. )
Sometimes, it's blatant, as some people treat locals as if they were their servants and there to cater to their needs for pennies, and sometimes it's way more subtle, and most people do not realise that they are contributing to the modern-day colonisation and exploitation of tropical paradises.
