Hey Rex, Where do you live?
The existential part depends on how affected your area is, and how privileged or wealthy you are.
It is existential for people caught in the way of intense and more frequent wildfires, floods. It is existential for people living in vulnerable areas prone to desertification, crop failure and coastal erosion. It is existential for people currently dying due to never before seen heatwaves, zoonic , rapidly spreading diseases. It is existential for those currently affected by climate related famines.
I always said that all lukewarmers live in immensely privileged areas (look at Björn Lombok in Denmark) where the climate emergency reality can be reduced to a mere debate exercise, and people’s lives at risk feels abstract, and not existential at all.
